The Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a unique and permanent identification number issued by the Income Tax Department. As the name implies, it does not change. However, if there are changes to your address or city, it may result in a change in your Assessing Officer.

Address or City Changes

  • PAN Permanence: Your PAN remains constant and does not change due to updates in personal details.
  • Informing Changes: If you change your address or city, you must inform the nearest IT PAN Service Center to update your details in the PAN database.
